I have worked in the Fitness Industry for the past 10 years. After finishing my studies I was very fortunate to work at the Jim Blair Corporate Wellness Centre in Albany, New Zealand. I worked with Jim Blair for four years as a Fitness consultant. Jim Blair is a real Fitness guru and the knowledge I have is mostly due to his experience. Although we worked a little bit with the Auckland Blues and other athletes whom Jim was involved with, most of our work was dedicated to Health and Wellness through the corporate groups and special populations. We specialized in Cardiovascular conditioning for heart health and endurance, stress relief and work life balance.
Following my time at Jim Blair’s I took an opportunity to be part of the development of New Zealand’s first elite athlete training centre, The Millennium Institute of Sport. I worked as a senior Fitness Instructor there. The Millennium gave me the opportunity to work along side some of New Zealand’s best coaches, doctors and physios. Their experience and input into my development was extremely valuable to me. I worked mostly with the general gym member, fitness testing and programming.
It wasn’t long before I began to work for myself as a Personal Trainer, still based at the Millennium. I was then able to take a more holistic approach to Health and Fitness. I developed my passion for postural analysis. Using pilates and postural assessments I was able to develop a much more effective training program for my clients.
After three years I finished work at the Millennium with the expectant arrival of a baby and moved to Helensville where my fiancés family live. I have lived in Helensville, New Zealand since, and although I expected to return to the Millennium, I found there was enough need for my experience here, at the Helensville gym. I am enjoying working in a small community.
I am also in the process of developing a women’s group. The idea is for women in our community to get together for events and seminars all based around health and wellness and achieving there own personal goals with support from other women and myself.
I am passionate about health and fitness and helping people achieve their goals. My role at BodyImpress is as a Fitness Mentor. Alongside Mark Allen, I am responsible for developing programme content, educating other Fitness Mentors and I also take an active role in BodyImpress Public Relations.
As a global business, BodyImpress has given me the opportunity to be able to reach out to people beyond the gym and my own community.
